YOUR GUIDE TO THIS VERSION
Know your table.
The rules that matter.
- Opening qualification matters; no qualification needed merely to call.
- Players declare their wild-card interpretation.
From first card to final reveal.
- Prepare. Use 52 cards; agree antes and fixed limits.
This guide follows the jacks-or-better opening version.
- Deal five. Ante; deal five private cards each.
Twos are wild from the start.
- Find an opener. Starting left of dealer, pass or open with jacks-or-better.
Once opened, others may call or raise with any hand.
- No opener?. Keep the pot, collect cards, move dealer and deal again.
Agree whether another ante is required.
- Draw. Survivors may replace zero to three cards, clockwise after dealer.
Burn once before replacements. Preserve opener’s discarded qualification cards if split.
- Final betting. The first-round opener begins.
Follow the agreed larger post-draw limit.
- Declare and show. Declare your best five-card hand, using twos as needed.
If you split your opening qualification, show the retained proof.
- Award. Highest wins; five of a kind beats straight flush. Split identical values.
Except five of a kind, a wild cannot duplicate a physical card already in your hand.
